Created in honor of my late Sistar Shcikita Thomas. "Kita" passed from Triple Negative Breast Cancer a few short months after her beautiful daughter Rio passed. Rio, her daughter, had Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Rio passed in December of 2017, and Kita followed in March of 2018. Kita made sure to preach the importance of self-care during her life's ending stages in this realm. She wanted others to understand the importance of taking each moment and living it to the fullest. She's part of the reason I decided to take my health much more seriously to live my best life. She's the reason this initiative exists and in full throttle. I started following a woman named Libra Hicks almost 4 years ago on Facebook. What intrigued me about her- was that she was a special needs mom- just like me! She shared her story on social media: the up and downs. I connected with her, in spirit, because I was going through similar situations.
Libra was a plus-sized woman who I watched get smaller and smaller over time. What was SHE doing? How did she find the time, energy, or will?? What was her motivation? If she can go from plus to size 1-2, why couldn’t I?
One evening, she made a post for a private group. Once the session was over, she announced that she would be teaching workout sessions for 6 months! WHAT??? I jumped on the opportunity. This was a woman I truly respected. I have had several personal trainers in the past that could not relate to the mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion special needs parents face. Libra GOT IT!
I immediately went to my bedroom, pulled out the scale, calendar, and measuring tape. The next week, we got to work. Please know that I am truly a sweet-a-holic. I love my cakes, pies, and cookies. Libra did not take my sweets away. I HATE WATER! She encouraged small steps, gradually, over time. I could do that.
4 months of working out consistently is starting to pay off. I could feel the difference in my clothes. I can see the difference in the mirror when I look at my body. My clients compliment me on my weight loss (although I like to play it off.)
I’ve lost 20 lbs so far and my abdominal circumference went from 43 inches to 36 inches! I feel stronger, healthier, happier and more confident! AND, I did this while still eating junk food! I am going to do better about that—I promise. I have increased my water intake though.
If Libra hadn’t offered that course that night, I would still be in the same out of shape body. Now, I’m ready to get my workout in first thing in the morning or in the evening! Long as I get it in.
Libra Hicks gave me my life back! I’m stronger (physically) because of her.
I’d encourage anyone to take her courses. They are fun and you will see and feel the results. They are easy for any fitness level. Time for me to LEVEL UP now!

I had previously lost about 80 pounds. However, when my dad passed away, I put most of that weight back on. I then got married and became a mom when we adopted our son. I proceeded to put all my energy into my new marriage and my son, who was on oxygen 24 hours a day. I put myself on the back burner. With Fit Club, I have been able to put me and my transformation back out front where it belongs. Libra gives it her all—and then some. She makes sure to give you what you need to help reach the goals that you set for yourself. And when you are having a pain or an injury issue, she is right there showing modifications so that you can continue moving. Thank you so much Libra. You are truly helping me transform both outside and inside.
I have known Libra for 10 years. During this time we have been good friends. She has always been kind, caring, genuine, funny, all about facts and about her business.
At 47yr old, I had my first stroke. Due to high blood pressure, a 60 lb weight gain & server stress. At 48yr old. I had my second stroke. I had all but given up. Facing a slue of physical and medical issues due to the strokes.
I have seen Libra doing all the things we used to talk about. And as a friend was very proud of her. But most of all, I was proud of the new lifestyle changes she had made and as crazy as it sounds. A week before my 50th birthday, I have seen Libra doing a brief workout on her IG story. And I said to myself; I have 5 children that I raised alone. 1 granddaughter and 1 on the way, and I have overcome so many other obstacles in my life that the Life Time Movie Network can even fathom.
If she can do it, I can too. So on August 18th, 2020, the day before my 50th birthday. I had my first workout on Zoom with Libra. And I have not stopped. I have lost 21 lbs. I am no longer on blood pressure medication after 34 years. I am less stressed, and I am not in as much pain as I was before. My balance is getting better, and I am building my strength on my right side; and most of all, I feel better about myself, and I can now hold both my granddaughters. I am still a work in progress. But nothing good comes without work.
But all in all, if it hadn't been for my friend Libra, I don't think I would be here today.
Sometimes you must realize 3 things in life:
1) God puts people in your life to HIS work for HIM
2) I/You are here, so I must have a purpose.
3) Everyday... is the day that the Lord has made, Let us be glad and rejoice in it.
This is my testimony on 12/27/20 at 10:05pm.
